Reminder about tomorrow’s Calligraphic Africa Lecture
20 August 2012
Dear Friends,
This is a reminder about the third lecture in the “Calligraphic Africa” series which is scheduled for 13h00 on the 21st of August (tomorrow) and will take place in the HUMA Seminar room, Humanities Building, University Avenue South, Upper Campus, University of Cape Town.
The Tombouctou Manuscripts Project are hosting a series of lunch time conversations entitled “Calligraphic Africa: on the means and ends of writing”. The aim of the series is to generate discussion around different aspects of writing culture on the continent, from calligraphy and conservation to scientific methods of studying historical manuscripts. The programme started on the 7th of August and ends on the 11th of September 2012. Our third talk entitled “A brief survey of scientific methods for studying historical manuscripts” will be presented by Eugene Cairncross from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Please see HERE for further details of the programme.
We look forward to seeing you at these events.
Sincerely,
The Tombouctou Team
