10 September 2012

Dear Friends,

This is a reminder about the final lecture in the “Calligraphic Africa” series which is scheduled for 13h00 on the 11th of September and will take place in the HUMA Seminar room, Humanities Building, University Avenue South, Upper Campus, University of Cape Town.

The Tombouctou Manuscripts Project are hosting a series of lunch time conversations entitled “Calligraphic Africa: on the means and ends of writing”. The aim of the series is to generate discussion around different aspects of writing culture on the continent, from calligraphy and conservation to scientific methods of studying historical manuscripts. The programme started on the 7th of August and ends on the 11th of September 2012. Our final talk entitled “Context: Contemporary Artists’ Books” will be presented by Fabian Saptouw from the Michealis School of Fine Art.

Please see HERE for further details of the programme.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Please note that lunch will be served from 12h30 onwards.

Sincerely,
The Tombouctou Team
